Service Notification: 09/22/14
Confirmation test method changes for tricyclic antidepressants (TCA).

Effective September 22, 2014, Redwood Toxicology Laboratory will confirm tricyclic antidepressants in urine using the industry's most advanced, most sensitive and specific analytical method, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Specificity of LC-MS/MS can be attributed to the fact that it separates the parent mass of the analyte and further breaks it down into fragments that are specific to the analyte, known as multiple reaction monitoring (MRM), ensuring that the peak is the analyte we seek, and that background interference is minimal.

Presumptive positive specimens will be confirmed by this highly accurate and sensitive test method allowing for lower confirmation cutoff levels of 25 ng/mL for all TCA's analyzed by this procedure.

NEW! Dextromethorphan (DXM) testing now available.

Redwood Toxicology Laboratory now provides clients the ability to detect the use or misuse of dextromethorphan (DXM). DXM is often found in over the counter cough medicine and when taken in large quantities, can produce hallucinogenic and dissociative effects.
